I have always seen the New Year as a catalyst for change. I however have never been 'with it' enough to stick 'with it'. Most every year I think of something that I want to change about me or my life and just think it to myself. I never share it with anyone and so when I forget about it (usually within a few weeks of January 1st) no one is the wiser, and I don't feel guilty. So my new years resolution this year is to actually keep (and share) my new years resolution.
To clarify: Every year I make the same promises to myself. Most of them involve getting organized, losing weight, being a better wife and mom, finally getting my business off the ground, getting to know God better. Late last year I realized that all of these things are interconnected and each depends on the others. So if you boil these down you get one thing.
Be better than I was last year.
To be better you must do better. I had started reading my small business resource books (again for the millionth time) and came across a tip for entrepreunerial moms:
If you are going to run a business and a household successfully you must get organized.
Naturally that seemed like a good place to start. So we are getting organized. We have spent the last 20 days cleaning out, scheduling, delegating, labelling (the label-maker is currently our favorite ally). Do you have any idea how good it feels to know exactly where to find paperclips, chapstick, or a Curious George band-aid at any given time? I don't even have a junk drawer anymore! We had a family meeting and everyone is on board and sticking with it. So since we started I can find stuff again, our days are more structured, our home is cleaner. All of these things add up to more time to focus on my business, my kids, my husband and of course my faith.
I LOVE your NEW family picture!!!! Boy do we miss you guys!!! We wish you still lived right next door!!! You were the most amazing neighbors!!! Every once in a while I get the same question from Bella, "did Isaac move?" She just asked it on Monday ...
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Love to all of you!
