The one-day room makeover
Allison you are an angel. In case I hadn't told you lately how wonderful you are- your giving spirit is an inspiration. Jake will love his room and I can't wait to hear how he reacted when he came home! -oh yeah and I hope you got home safe and sound! It was so great to see you!
The Nose
It kind of looks normal -just bruised- but trust me- it is really swollen. Not crooked though! that was the best news! It does not appear to need to be reset. At first he was having a really hard time breathing through it- it was so swollen! Ibuprofen helped with that fortunately.
The bright day light at the tulip festival made the pretty colors of his bruise stand out like...well the nose on his face.
So he was rough-housing with his friend in our living room. On bare floor with socks on. Pushing and shoving, no grip under his feet, slipped and fell face flat. Poor little guys- both of them. The other kiddo was fine- but definitely worried about Isaac and I think he felt guilty. Matt and I were switching back and forth comforting each of them.
It has been a week- and we are down to colors like gray and dark yellow- which mean it is almost healed. The swelling is down and all is back to normal!

What We Did Last Weekend

First we went to meet the 6 new additions to the Bachelder family (apparently they are old news now though- meet the 3 newest at the link above). Not sure I have ever heard of a live chicken (or 3) being an impulse buy- but whatever floats your boat Hilary!

Cutie Sam showing us his chicken taming skills- he has even managed to train Mrs. Chicken to perch on his finger!

Max was fascinated by these little guys- couldn't wait to touch them! Isaac on the other hand took a while to warm up to them- he finally touched one as we were ready to go and after I had put away the camera.
I just loved this picture of my handsome hubby! Lucky me!Friday, April 11, 2008
Yum!
Officially the fanciest dessert I make- it also happens to be the easiest! It has no name really...perhaps "Apple Tart a' la Beth"...or perhaps not...Anyway, it is simply this:
4 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1 tbs butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 to 1/2 tsp cinnamon + a sprinkle
puff pastry shells
vanilla ice cream
Place 4 puff pastry shells, top side up on a cookie sheet and bake according to directions. While they bake place apples, butter (I chop the butter into tiny pieces), sugar and cinnamon in a glass pie dish and microwave on high for 9 minutes, or until apples are tender. For each serving remove the top of the shell and fill with hot apples, and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You'll probably have a bit of the apples left over- nothing that a fork and a 5 yr old can't take care of pretty quickly.

All About Max

We love how sweet you are as you discover snow- yelling in gibberish at us about how exciting it is (at least that's what we think you were yelling about!)...
Oh and just a few more... your mischeivous streak, how much you love your "bubba", how you run to him for big hugs, how you run to daddy when he comes home- yelling his name and holding your arms wide-, how you love to give momma kisses all the time, how you think Zoee's very existence is so funny, how you insist upon throwing away your own diapers (or a tantrum ensues!), how you love on bubba when he gets in trouble, how you cheer when I say it is time to go bye-bye and chant gotta-go, gotta-go, gotta-go until we actually reach the car!
You are such a beautiful little boy- in personality and spirit- and we are so blessed to be your family!
